How you can support #BlackLivesMatter
WMRE is saddened and outraged by this nation’s pattern of state-sanctioned violence and racist policies that have brought suffering to countless people and continue to traumatize black communities. We want to do our best to support those in need and ask that you do what you can to help create the more just and compassionate society that we all deserve.
So donate if you can. Protest if you can. Call your representative and tell them to defund police departments. Educate yourself and confront your own complicity with institutional and societal white supremacy. Amplify black voices and support black businesses. For everyone doing work already, thank you so much and please continue your activism even as the noise dies down.

So is Who Do You Serve, Who Do You Protect?, which explores the reality of US police violence against Black, Brown and Indigenous communities.
Making financial contributions.
Be careful before donating to ensure that your money is going to the right people or organizations. Unfortunately, too many people are taking advantage of tragedies for their own gain right now through scams or misleading venmo accounts.
This is a list of places that need your help including organizations for black trans communities, bail funds by region, prision abolitionist movements, and more.
Individuals who need immediate help if you have cashapp or venmo can be found here. Help pay for groceries and rent. Between the pandemic and the police violence, it’s a stressful time for many who are already financially compromised.

Buying from black-owned businesses.
If you’d like to buy books, consider avoiding Amazon, Walmart, and other large corporations. They are able to sell books at lower prices through the exploitation of their workers. Instead, buy from black-owned independent bookstores. Shop local if possible!
Ordering takeout in Atlanta. Avoid Seamless/Grubhub and other apps because they take a large cut. Instead, call or order from the restaurants directly.
Los Angeles. NYC Before ordering delivery, also consider the risk of the delivery person (possibly undocumented) being arrested for breaking curfew. Cincinnati. Boston.
Or wherever you’re living in the US—you can search by location.
