Eels - 'Wonderful, Glorious'

EelsWonderful, GloriousVagrant RecordsEels might be one of the saddest artists working in the music industry today: he’s had a rough life and his tribulations tend to show in his work. However, his new album Wonderful, Glorious has a great grungy attitude to it. The album is reminiscent of his werewolf inspired, “Hombre Lobo.” The hit track, “New Alphabet” opens with the line, “You know what, I’m in a good mood today.” This is a great theme for the whole album. It’s not quite giddy, but Eels has strung together a group of songs that manages to give the middle finger to his troubles and tell them to go away for good.
