One Direction - 'Take Me Home'
One DirectionTake Me HomeSyco/ColumbiaIt’s tempting to slide into the role of Snotty Music Elitist and bash this newest (British!) installation of boy band-dom for ruining music, but I may have danced along to the majority of this infectious album, so I can’t. Its pure pop is so strong, like the perfectly-timed syncopations in electro-influenced “C’mon C’mon,” that when they try accessing their sensitive, acoustic-guitar side (see “Little Things”), you may start looking for the skip button. It’s music that becomes tiresome after repeated listenings, but Take Me Home isn’t about longevity. It’s the designer drug of the music world — debilitating in the long run, but boy, does it feel good for that moment. —Sonam Vashi[soundcloud url="http://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/70960436" params="" width=" 100%" height="166" iframe="true" /]
